Stafford v Kidsgrove in Brief

posted 10 Feb 2012, 11:08 by knight moves
Kazik Wozniak played well but made a mistake in the late middle game losing a pawn, but won by superior end game play winning a knight.  Andrew Leadbetter lost a pawn in a kings gambit declined, but then picked up a knight and won the exchange, but dithered for 15 moves while his opponent wriggled well, eventually Andrew saw a way to neutralise the 2 bishops and his opponent blundered his queen.

Denis Nesbitt had a hard fought game and was material up when his opponent ran out of time.  David Barker had an enjoyable kings gambit, but wasn't sure how he actually lost.

A welcome win for the home team, which strengthens their league position as we get a little over half way through the season.
