Stafford B had a tough North Staffs Div 3 match away at Alsager, who always manage to put up stiff opposition.  On board 1, Ray Hyde developed a good attack, but his opponent parried well , and won two of Ray's pawns.  But after a spirited fight back, and winning pack one of the pawns, Ray accepted an offer of a draw.  Andrew Leadbetter lost his way in an Evans Gambit and lost a piece early on board 2.  After being forced to exchange any pieces that may have contributed to a fight back, Andrew eventually accepted defeat after being forced to give up a Rook to stop a pawn promotion.   Guy De Visme developed into a strong position on board 3, but in the face of potential time trouble, offered a draw which was accepted.  On board 4, Geoff Cox found himself a piece down but with good positional compensation and a huge time advantage.  It was the clock that finally decided the outcome, as his opponents flag fell with Geoff still having over 35 minutes remaining.

Overall Stafford were happy with the draw as this leaves them unbeaten in their first 2 matches.
