The 7th Newcastle mini congress is planned to take place on 5th & 6th of March 2011.  In case Martyn doesn't have your email address, here is a copy of the text.

Hi All,

With apologies to those tempted to regard this as spam, I've decided to run a 7th mini-congress at the beginning of March 2011.

This year I am fortunate to have the support of Home Bargains as a sponsor. This will enable me to make a number of adjustments to the way I operate, the most obvious one at this point being to increase the number of prizes per section from two to three.

I am making another attempt to introduce an Open section. Not that I'm expecting large numbers of exceptionally strong players to want to play, but it saves me choosing an overall upper limit only to find that someone just above it wishes to play. In the event that the Open section doesn't run any entries for the Open from players graded just over the 160 limit for the next section already received at the time that the Open is judged non-viable will be allowed to play in the U160, but no further overgraded players will be allowed in.

Other Information

Reports on the first six Newcastle mini congresses can be found in the archive of the Newcastle Chess Club website http://mjh.orpheusweb.co.uk/nulcc/frame.htm

Tea, coffee and soft drinks available.

Many bars, cafes, takeaways and restaurants within easy walking distance.

If two sections each have an odd number of players in a given round, one person from each will be paired against the other, though both will be scored as a full point bye in their section. This game will be graded.

If the total number of players in a given round is odd, one player will be given a full point bye. It may be possible to arrange a graded game for them against someone not competing in the whole congress.

Hope to see many of you there. Space is limited, so get your entries in early!
