Stafford B team haven't exactly started the season with a bang, gaining only one point out of a possible 4. The first match of the season was away to Newcastle C, where Roger and Andrew gained a half point each, while Peter took a full point against an old adversary, but James suffered a defeat at the hands of lower graded opposition.
In their first home match of the season, Stafford out-graded an in-form Alsager B team on every board. On board 1, Pavel played well but ended in a blocked position, so a draw was agreed. While on board 2, Kazik had engineered a strong attack on the King side, which resulted in a queen swap giving Kazik the exchange, but his opponent's knight was soon able to fork King and rook and go on to win the game.
The longest game was on board 3, where Denis mounted a good attack. His opponent found some retaliatory moves, but Denis played correctly to keep him at bay for a share of the points. James made a good start winning a queen in exchange for a rook and a bishop, but James' attack ran out of steam and the Alsager player was able to force James back and then force his pawns through for a win.
