History & Honours

Stafford Chess Club have been involved in the Wolverhampton League since 1947 and have been continuously involved in the Cannock League since 2000. Our involvement in the North Staffs District League began in 1982, when a team from RAF Stafford also competed in division 4.

In the Wolverhampton League, from 1947 to 1951 we played as Stafford Chess Club. In 1961-2 and again in 1963-5 we reapeared with the name English Electric (Stafford). In 1965 that name was changed to Stafford Chess Council. Since 1971, we have been known by our current name: Stafford Chess Club.
